Then, slide it down until you feel it make contact with the locking mechanism. Once you’ve made contact, jiggle the Slim Jim until you hear a click, which means the lock has been disengaged. At this point, you should be able to open the door.
Method #2: Use a Coat Hanger
If you don’t have a Slim Jim, you can try using a coat hanger. Start by unbending the hanger so that you have a long, straight piece of wire. Then, insert the wire between the weather stripping and the window until you feel it make contact with the locking mechanism. Once you’ve made contact, jiggle the wire until you hear a click, which means the lock has been disengaged. At this point, you should be able to open the door.
Method #3: Call A Towing Company
If neither of these methods works for you or if you’re feeling unsafe, your best bet is to call a Towing company. A Towing technician will be able to quickly and easily unlock your vehicle door without damaging your car. Just be sure to have your identification and proof of insurance ready when they arrive.
